Chats. The tramway had been built without special legislation, in
approximately 1847, by the original partners, J-I Aumond, John
Egan and Ruggles Wright. 1859 Canada c.99 - authorized the operation
of steam and other vessels on the Ottawa River and its tributaries

roads and portages above Ottawa subject to the consent of county
council
